Associate Attorney
Job posted on Monday, August 09, 2010
Job Description

                                                         Associate Attorney Needed

Rhodes Law Firm, P.C. is located in Augusta Georgia. We are beginning a building phase. We currently have one attorney and several paralegals. Our goal is to bring on up to 5 attorneys and respective support staff within the next 3 years. We are currently seeking an associate that we will train in the areas of the firm’s practice, which now consists of Medicaid Planning, Wills & Trusts, Business & Contract Law and may expand into other non-litigation areas. Applicant must be licensed in one state, in either Georgia or South Carolina. Applicant will need to have passed both SC and Georgia bars shortly after hire. No former experience in wills or trusts is required. However, some post law school experience is preferred. Some litigation experience is a plus. The candidate will not be expected to bring or develop new work, only assist in performing work generated by the firm. Candidate will eventually assist senior attorney with all aspects of legal practice, including office management.

The firms’ vision for the future includes adding an associate every 6 to 9 months and expanding the practice into surrounding areas such as Aiken, Lincolnton, Thomson and McCormick.

The office environment is very fast paced, hard working, and informal. Important aspects of our culture include trust, creativity and collaboration. There is little “class” differentiation in the firm. Especially at first, the attorney will be learning from the paralegals. A respect for the knowledge and skills of, and ability to get along with, the paralegals and other staff is crucial. Each attorney and each staff member is required to handle their own typing, including any memo from the senior partner.

In order for the associate attorney to succeed, they must bring to the position a high level of energy, team spirit, and creative initiative. Given the firm’s substantial growth opportunities and the relatively small number of staff currently, the attorney will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of the business.

Starting yearly salary is $50,000. The job requires a 3 month trial period. At the end of that time a performance review will be made for permanent position. After that time it is expected that the pay structure will be on a draw against a % of production. This arrangement can allow a very quick pace of salary increase for a productive attorney.

Benefits include medical insurance after 3 months, profit sharing after first full calendar year of service. Salary review occurs at end of first 6 months then on an annual basis thereafter.

Office hours are from 8-5 Monday through Friday. We are looking for associate attorney to set an example to the staff for timeliness and attendance. Vacation is 1 week after 6 months and two weeks per year after 1 year.

We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. For immediate consideration, please send resume and salary requirements to Michelle Burdeshaw by e-mail at the address
MBurdeshaw@rhodeslawfirmpc.com. Be sure to include an email address that you check often.
